Why I exercise
The game of life is a great one, the board is large and it’s for players 2 and up. As for Life itself, it can be really hard to get through. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions and obstacles with moments that leave us breathless. Problem is, if we spend our entire lives in front of a screen, then we are not living!
Late last year I realised that my body will not always be the way it is. If I wanted to have a great adult life, I would need to keep my body in peak performance, like a well-built computer. I found out there were so many interesting things to do with exercising. I forgot how much I loved Gymnastics, how great it was to just collapse into bed after working out.
Plus, I will admit, a lot of attractive people work out at the gym, and that was a benefit of its own. That shouldn’t intimidate you though, there are so many people there concerned about their own weight, so they won’t be judging anyone else.
Benefits to mind and body from my healthy lifestyle
Since I got into a healthy life style I found that my condition isn’t as bad.
By healthy lifestyle I mean getting enough sleep, getting enough exercise and also eating the right foods. With most mental disabilities having enough of sleep, eating well and exercising can help.
When I have enough of sleep I don’t get so stressed out, I’m more relaxed as well as not so grumpy. I tend to think better with enough sleep.
When you start exercising like bike riding, going to the gym and going for jogs you tend to feel better about yourself. This allows me to get up everyday wanting more. With friends doing the same I tend to get better with my social skills as well.
For me I can keep myself calm most of the time as I ride my bike everywhere. It’s also a great way to get into the fresh air.
I have noticed that if you sleep too much you want to sleep more and you may get depressed which is not a good thing.
On the food department when you eat healthy you tend to cook your own foods and eat what you want. I found this has helped me in another skill which was cooking.
I now know how to cook my own foods which includes breakfast lunch and dinner. This also saves a lot of money.
My aim was to get my body back in shape and since I have combined all these activities in my everyday routine, I have notice a big difference on how I look. Gaining muscle and endurance feels great.
It’s a funny thing to me when someone tells me that I was once overweight or unhealthy. I’ve done something about that and it’s given me a positive outcome.
